Elrod Falls

Elrod Falls is just off Hwy 31 outside of Sneedville, TN. Amie, Aubrey and I stopped by on our way home from the Hancock County Fall Festival this past weekend. Its pretty easy to miss as there is only one small sign to mark the turn off the highway, and once you head back down the side road into the "hollers", the next sign for the second turn is missing.
I have been several times, but always in the early spring when there were no leaves on the trees. The falls are beautiful right now, and I'm sure they will be glorious in a few weeks when the leaves turn.
There is a very short walk from the parking area to the lower falls. The lower falls has two pools of water that would be great for a dip in the summer. To the right of the falls is a steep trail up to the top. Once you get to the top there is a second set of falls nearly as tall as the first. Be very careful, as it would be easy to slip and fall.
